Las Vegas McCarran airport smells like one huge ashtray

I’m on my way back from Spokane and I have a layover in Vegas.  As soon as I get off the airplane the smell of cigarette smoke fills the air.  This airport is *gross*!!!

Another thing about this airport, all the stupid slot machines and NO ELECTRICAL OUTLETS for you to plug in your phone, laptop, etc.  What kind of sense does that make???

Teaching in Hillbilly Central

OK, so I arrive in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.  Sounds like a nice place to go to the beach, enjoy the ocean…yada yada yada….I arrive and it’s this ….this….place with….little southern houses and everyone smokes and looks like a sun-dried up raisin and sounds like Forrest Gump.

I’m staying at a Super 8 motel with a Waffle House across the street.  Calgon take me away……..

Will Class be cancelled?

Day two of 2400B.  During the second break in the afternoon, the POC comes
to me  and says,

POC: "uhhh, I just got an email.  They’re closing the base as of 1430."
Me: "That was 10 minutes ago"
POC: "Yup.  We have to be out of here in 15 minutes"
Me: "Why"
POC: "Weather"
Me:"What about tomorrow?"
POC: "uhhh, well….we may not have class…"
Me: "Why?"
POC: "Weather advisory"
Me: "hmmm.  How will I know?"
POC: "Call this number.  It’s a base messaging service that tells us status"
Me: "oooo k"

So…here I am in my hotel room waiting……weather sucks.  sigh.
